Everything you need to go further into the storm · Valkyr GamesHow to play
In Relámpago it's night and you're caught in a storm. The screen is almost completely dark: the obstacles, floating slabs of earth, only show up for an instant every time lightning strikes. Your job is to look, memorize where the gap is and guide your ball of light there, even after you can no longer see it.
- To move, drag your finger (or the mouse) left and right. The ball follows your finger; you don't need to touch it directly.
- The world moves on its own. Walls come down towards you and every wall you pass adds meters.
- Sparks are little lights you can collect along the way. Regular ones push you 5 meters ahead and golden ones 10. They're also the game's currency.
- If you touch a slab, you crash. Depending on the mode, you lose the run, spend a shield or go back to the start of the level.
One rule is never broken: lightning always strikes before a wall reaches you. You'll never have to guess without seeing the path at least once.
Campaign: 5 worlds
The campaign has 5 worlds with 5 levels each, and the last level of every world is a boss. Each level has a distance goal, and you can earn up to 3 stars: one for reaching it, one for collecting enough sparks and one for never crashing. Clear a level and you pick a card that stays with you for the rest of the world; beat the boss and you earn its skill and a style pack.
World 1 · Enchanted Forest
The world to learn in. It starts with the pure storm, then adds golden sparks that tempt you off the path, gaps that slide sideways and bats that cross the screen diagonally. World skill: Jump.
World 2 · Glacier
Ice changes how the ball moves: it slides and takes time to stop, so you have to plan ahead. Then come icicles that shake and fall, ice walls that crack and move the gap, and a snowstorm with gusts that push you. Skill: Slow motion.
World 3 · Desert
Sandstorms, pillars falling from above (dotted warning lines show up first), quicksand that spins you around and ruins full of dust devils. Skill: Lightning.
World 4 · Volcano
Lava rivers that drag you sideways, geysers that launch you forward at full speed and burning walls where the fire keeps shrinking the gap. Skill: Pulse.
World 5 · Space
The strangest world: black holes that pull you in (the core is deadly), portals that teleport you and moons orbiting around the gaps. Skill: Teleport.
Bosses and how to beat them
Bosses show up at the end of each world with their own intro. To beat them you have to survive a distance while they attack; their health bar drops as you move forward.
- The Storm Cloud (Forest): throws lightning from above. Before every strike it marks a strip on the ground: get out of it.
- The Blizzard (Glacier): blows a cone of ice. If it catches you, you freeze for a moment and can barely move. Watch where it aims and dodge early.
- The Sphinx (Desert): its gaze blows up a whole column. The safe spot is exactly the gap of the next wall.
- The Lava Golem (Volcano): throws meteors that fly in a curve. Each one warns where it will land.
- The Living Storm (Space): fires energy rings across the screen. They always leave a safe gap: find it.
Skills
Skills are triggered with a gesture (for example, a double tap) and recharge on their own. In the campaign you borrow the world's skill; in Endless you use the ones you've earned, up to three at a time, one per gesture.
- Jump: jump over the next wall. It works when the wall is close.
- Slow motion: time runs at half speed for 2.5 seconds.
- Lightning: call a lightning strike whenever you want and see the whole path.
- Pulse: smash the wall right in front of you.
- Teleport: appear directly in the gap of the next wall.
Endless mode
Endless has no finish line: you go as far as you can, and your record in meters goes to the world leaderboard. You earn experience as you go and pick a card every time you level up. The storm keeps changing:
- Zones: every 1,000 meters you enter a zone with a twist: Storm Clouds (everything faster), Blackout (shorter lightning), Living Walls (more moving walls), Funnel (smaller gaps), Gale (wind gusts) and Electric Storm (faster and darker). Then they repeat, stronger.
- Bosses: a boss shows up every 2,000 meters. Beating it gives sparks and the chance to make a pact.
- The merchant: floats by every now and then. Touch him and he sells you a card, a shield, a card upgrade or removes a pact, in exchange for the sparks you collected in that run.
- Shields: a shield breaks the wall you hit instead of you crashing. You get them from cards, from the merchant or by collecting sparks.
The 21 cards
Cards change how you play during a run. They have rarities (common, rare, epic, legendary and one mythic) and level up if you get the same one again. Every card you discover stays in your collection.
- Retina: walls stay marked after the lightning.
- Storm: lightning strikes more often.
- Lantern: your light shows nearby walls.
- Magnet: you pull sparks from further away.
- Guide: after the lightning, the next gap keeps glowing.
- Long lightning: every strike lasts longer.
- Shield: you break the next wall you touch.
- Reflexes: time slows down during the lightning.
- Double spark: every spark is worth double.
- Wide gap: gaps are wider.
- Double strike: every lightning strikes twice in a row.
- Spark shield: collect sparks to earn shields.
- Echo: a wave reveals the walls every now and then.
- Resonance: using a skill sends out a wave, and every spark recharges your skills.
- Adrenaline: twice as many sparks appear.
- Phoenix: if you crash, you come back and every wall explodes.
- Ghost: every now and then you pass through everything for 3 seconds.
- Comet: every 300 meters you become a comet for 5 seconds: full speed, smashing everything.
- Sunrise: every 25 sparks the sun comes out for 5 seconds and you can see everything.
- Frozen time: when you're about to crash, time freezes for 2 seconds. Once per minute.
- God of thunder (mythic): every 3 strikes, one destroys the wall in front of you.
Pacts
After beating a boss in Endless you're offered two pacts. Each one gives you something great in exchange for something bad, and you can have up to three. If you don't like either, you refuse and take a shield or sparks instead.
- Cat eyes: you see the walls twice as long, but half as many strikes fall.
- Giant gap: much wider gaps, but everything is 20% faster.
- Fortune: sparks ×3, but you lose your shields and can't get more.
- Armor: +2 shields now, but you no longer pick cards when you level up.
- Blind: meters count double, but lightning lasts half as long.
- Second life: you come back once if you crash, but skills take twice as long to recharge.
- Storm: lightning all the time, but almost every wall moves sideways.
- All or nothing: all your cards level up, but any crash kills you, even with shields.
Surprise events
In Endless, every 400 to 600 meters something unexpected happens for a few seconds, with its own music. The first time you get one, the game slows down a bit so you understand what's going on.
- Golden rain: golden sparks fall; grab them all.
- Full moon: you can see everything without lightning.
- Crazy magnet: sparks come to you on their own.
- Slow motion: everything goes slowly.
- Eclipse: no lightning; play from memory. Survive it and you get a prize.
- Mirror: left is right.
- Earthquake: everything shakes and the gaps tremble.
- Fake gaps: watch out for the wavy ones, they're fake.
- Crystal walls: smash them to earn sparks.
- Runaway chest: catch it and you pick a card.
- Lightning duel: stand on the red marks.
- Giant ball: your ball grows and smashes everything (rare).
- Party: confetti everywhere (also rare).
Challenges
- Storm Hunt: the daily challenge. Every player in the world plays exactly the same map, so you can compare with friends. You get two free tries per day.
- Spark Hunt: 60 seconds to collect as many sparks as you can.
- Max speed: wind gusts keep making you faster.
- Narrow gap: the gaps keep shrinking.
- Clock: the whole screen spins, faster and faster. A full turn takes about 25 seconds.
Leagues and leaderboard
Your Endless record puts you in a league: Bronze (from the start), Silver (1,000 m), Gold (3,000 m), Platinum (6,000 m) and Diamond (10,000 m). In Records you can see the world leaderboard for each mode and your position. You can also challenge a friend: after a crash, tap Share and send them the link; when they open it, they'll play with your score on screen.
Tips to go further
- Look at the next gap, not the one you're passing. When lightning strikes, find the next gap and start moving before it goes dark.
- Use reference points. Remember the gap relative to something fixed: the edge of the screen, the center, your finger.
- Don't chase every spark. Golden ones are tempting, but leaving the path in the dark is the most common way to crash.
- Short, firm moves. Even more so on the Glacier: the ball slides.
- Save your skills for hard moments, like a moving wall or a boss.
- Think about pacts. "All or nothing" is very strong if you play carefully; "Fortune" pays off when you're doing well and want to farm sparks.
- Play with sound on. The music changes with events and bosses, and tells you what's coming.
